Poor Puppy!

Deja was in heat several weeks back, she's in tact because we've been contemplating breeding her. She was showing signs of Pyo, a sometimes deadly infection of the uterus that can occur after a heat cycle. We had a scare with Pyo last time and she's had one false pregnancy. That was so sad, she carried stuffed babies around the house like a new Mommy and nudged them and cried, it really was horrible! So we made the decision to have her spayed, I couldn't stand to lose her, so now if when we get another puppy it will not be one of hers.

After all surgeries a cone must be worn to prevent them from licking the incision. I hate those big bulky cones. They can't really see where they're going and are always bumping into something. I didn't want my walls and cabinets all marked up, not to mention my legs, so I upgraded her to the new deluxe E-collar. This is very Vera Bradley looking, soft and seemingly more comfortable but I have to admit she looks like a walking flower. I couldn't help to think Alice in Wonderland when she came walking out of the recovery room.

I think she hates me now but as close to me as she always is and as easy as I bruise I am thrilled that the back of my legs will not look like I'm beaten! Sometimes I have to put my comfort before the fashion of my dogs.

She really does look like she hates me doesn't she?

Pitiful, funny but pitiful!

Happy Wednesday Y'all!

Poor Deja! That is sad about her carrying around puppies and crying! Seriously!

Love the pic. Yes she does think you are crazy for making her be a part of your fashion world!

Oh that is pitiful and funny. Poor Deja! But it's worth the temporary sacrifice of looking silly if it means she'll be healthy, and you don't have to worry about Pyo and false pregnancies anymore!

OMGosh! Poor baby! Keep her away from the mirrors, as well as your legs. It is good that you had this done for her to keep her healthy. That would be heartbreaking to watch her cry and carry the pretend pups.

She looks like she is telling you something in the first pic! Probably something like "really, you have to take a picture of me for blackmail dont you"

Oh, Deja! :( I'm so glad she's okay... but at least she is Ms. Vera Bradley - a stylin' doggie!

You should check out that breeder -I was mistaken - they're actually in S. Carolina (a wee bit closer to you) and they just had another litter!

She makes a very pretty flower though ;) You did the right thing, regardless of how miffed she might be with you right now.

Are you going to try your hand at haiku today? It's almost over!

Come visit and leave me a good one, will you?! ;)

Because I am laughing my you know what off..... and it's about to get me kicked out of the library... Poor Deja! It's MUCH better than the plastic satellite-dish cone that all the other dogs have to wear. Deja should know what a good Mama she has -- one who will "upgrade" her collar!

Poor girl! I hope she recovers quickly...things went really fast for our dog when we had her spayed, she was back to herself in no time!
