Day 5 of 27
I am thankful for a clean house!
Monday is cleaning day here at the seriously house.
I clean like freaking Cinderella all day and get no help from cute little talking birds and mice!
When I am finished I feel accomplished and dead dog tired! I love the look and smell of a clean house but I'll be honest, I much prefer coming home to a clean house after a day of shopping and lunch with the girls but those long days are long gone! **insert heavy this economy suck sigh here**
I hate when 10 minutes after I put the cleaning basket away it doesn't look like I did a darned thing! The dogs have run through the sandbox and come in with a pound of sand on their paws and strewn it all over my clean floors. Then because they're so hot and tired from being outside they go get a drink and walk across the freshly mopped floors with water dripping from their mouths. The girls come home from school and unpack their backpacks, get a snack leaving crumbs on the counter and start homework. So now there's backpacks, lunchboxes, papers, folders, pencils and eraser crumbs all over the kitchen. Babe comes home from work and I swear he thinks I'm a big fat liar when I tell him I cleaned all day!
But you know what? I think I'm more thankful for the mess than the clean. Not when I'm in the middle of it of course but when I sit back and reflect on why it's a mess.
Yes, I cleaned all day but I'm thankful to have a house to clean!
Yes, my dogs are a bunch of crazy mess makers but I love them all and the fact that they get excited to see me walk through the door after a trip to the mailbox warms my heart!
Yes, my girls have made a mess and are arguing but at least they're coming home after school and not running the streets!
Yes, Babe may question {never out loud he so knows better} if I really cleaned all day but at least he's coming home to his family after work and not stopping off for a "drink with the guys".
I'm thankful that I get to clean my mess because the mess is proof that I have all I really need!
Happy Thursday Y'all!

what a great way to look at it! this is my favorite 27 days of thankful post yet!
I used to pick Mondays as cleaning day too, but boy was it exhausting to clean all dang day! So now I assign certain chores for each day, only drawback is that the house is never sparkling all at the same time! But what a great way to be thankful for the mess!
I know how you feel! I have a plaque someone gave me that says...
The house was clean yesterday - sorry you missed it.
And another...
This home is protected by dust bunnies.
I just finished cleaning my house today and I love your attitude about it- just be thankful for a house to clean!!!
