I'm working with the PTA at Peanuts school again this year but since I have my hands full as the President at Honey's school I'm staying low key and am only assisting with 5th grade events and being the Homeroom Mom.
The 5th grade events committee chair sent out an email recapping the first meeting {of which I had down for today not yesterday so I missed it} along with a request to borrow several items for our first big event FHC SURVIVOR. I laughed when I saw this because I knew that at least half of the people would reply saying they would send in the same item, it happens every time. I was right, after just 2 hours she had received about 6 emails all saying they would send in a crock pot and extension cords {I was one of them}. She sent out a friendly "I now have all the crock pots and extensions cords covered, thanks" email and I kid you not 30 minutes later someone sent her an "I can bring in a crock pot and extension cord" email. Being the smart ass that I am I sent her an email that went a little something like this "I will leave my crock pot and extension cord at home since it appears you have them coming out your ass".
SEND....
OH CRAP!
ABORT!!
ABORT!!!
You know where I'm heading don't you?
I sent it to the wrong person! I sent it to the Mom that was nice enough to offer up her crock pot and extension cord!
It was too late. My email was long gone, traveling through cyberspace at light speed and there wasn't a thing I could do about it.
I had a rough day yesterday. A really, really, rough day {come back Friday and read my F-Bomb Friday post I'll have all the details then} and this made my stomach flip yet again. I had no idea who this Mom was and I was fearful she would take this as an insult instead of seeing my twisted sense of humor in it. So I quickly sent her an email apologizing. I explained that it was a joke because I knew exactly what was going to happen from the beginning. I explained that in no way did I mean any disrespect and it wasn't that I wasn't grateful for her offer...yadda...yadda...yadda. Then I popped a two natural sleep aids, waived my white flag, announced Tuesday as the winner and went to bed.
I woke up this morning and found this in my inbox...
Shawn,
I thought that was HYSTERICAL! I don't think we've ever met but look forward to it!
Anyway- I love to do crafty stuff and know you do too. You have a website, right? I think I saw it last year. I am all over the place......I have a site too at {I've removed it since I don't have her permission to post it}.
I sent a message to Lora earlier that I'd love to help you with the creative aspects. Keep me in mind....

I was beyond relieved and thrilled that my Wednesday hadn't started out like my Tuesday!

Whew! Good thing she has a sense of humor! Thank God for senses of humor! :) I thought it was hysterical, but I would have been flipping out too, if I had been in your shoes. Can't wait to hear F-Bomb Friday post! :)
Hope today has been much better!♥
And there is another FBomb moment for ya! LOL! You are racking them up!
Oh man...not good! I'm sure there was a rapid fire follow-up email to that one!
Ahhhh so nice to know that not all the mom's at Peanut's school are jerks! Maybe now this year you'll have a little help muscling people into helping with the teacher's gifts! I have done the send the wrong thing to the wrong person WAY too many times. I totally felt your panic as I was reading your post. Soooo glad it all turned out well :)
Yay!! Don't you love it when you get the opposite response that what you expected!!! What a great email to wake up to!!!
Wednesday kicked my ass, so I am headed to bed now too. Hoping to wake up with a nice email in my inbox like you just received....

I wish I could say that has never happened to me. I also wish I could say that it resulted in the same sort of response.
Like I said...I wish.
