I digress...Babe is a car guy and I cannot tell you how often this really does happen. Sadly, many people do not know its happening until it's too late.
When I'm giving my credit card a workout and it gets declined towards the end of the day not only is it embarrassing but it's maddening. I pay my bills, there's no reason for my card to not work. Most of the time the credit card company has seen the account use changes and have shut it off for my protection. That's a good thing but not when standing in the shoe department of Nordstroms! Because I use my credit cards rarely I have learned to call the company to give them a heads up especially if I'm planning on out of state shopping! Is that an inconvenience? Yes. But it's so much easier than the things the poor dude in the commercial had to go through.
My point in all of this is to be aware of what's going on with your credit, be proactive, don't wait until it's too late! In these tough economic times it's becoming more and more common for identity theft to happen, stay on top of things!
By getting your credit score occasionally you can make sure nothing fishy is going on. And now that you can get a free credit score there really are no excuses!

I had to notify them when I went to Australia. Luckily I knew before going that I needed to call and tell them there would be AUS charges on my card. How horrible would it have been to be in another country with my card frozen?
