Do you change the batteries in your smoke detectors when the time changes? I try to but I usually forget and then I'm forced to go to the garage to get the ladder, dig through the pantry to find a 9-volt battery, make one of the girls stick out their tongue to make sure it works {what, like you don't do the same thing?} and rub the sleep out of my eyes so I can see what I'm doing because it's 3 am.
Well, I forgot again and now I have a beautiful high pitched chirp coming from the smoke detector right outside of my office every 3 minutes. It's super soothing and doesn't make me jump and wish I could smash it with a hammer every time it goes off, nope not at all.
We have an electric fence in the yard and the dogs wear shock collars during the day to prevent them from scaling the 5' fence and scaring the shiz out of our neighbors. Please no hate comments, this is not cruel, them chasing people and other dogs out of our yard is fun and very entertaining cruel. As they get close to the shock line their collar chirps at them warning them they're about to get their ass shocked. Deja is the only one that gets close enough to hear the chirp, she then stands there and barks at nothing, inches closer and closer until she gets her ass zapped, does a back flip {for real, she flips} and goes right back at it. Chirp, shock, flip, repeat.
The chirp that's coming from the smoke detector sounds very similar to the noise her collar makes as a result she is freaking out and very confused as to why she's about to get shocked in the safety of her house. Poor baby doesn't know what to do except come to her Mamma for protection and comfort.
She's starring at the smoke detector with fear in her eyes and every time it goes off she tries to get a little closer to me. I'm thinking since she's in the chair with me she's about as close as she can get!
Yep, this here is one bad-ass guard dog!
Poor baby!
I've had my fun with this, I'm off to change the battery.

that's too freakin' funny... and please, for the Love of all good things in the world- WHY do the batteries in the dang detectors always go out in the middle of the night? Why not in the afternoon? Perhaps before I go to bed? That noise seriously ruins my nights. You have beautiful dogs! Are they siblings?
Awww, poor Deja! The smoke alarm at the top of our stairs, which is basically in the bedroom, went off a few weeks ago. My husband was able to sleep through it & thought he could wait until morning to mess with it. Excuse me, I had 2 dogs in my face & a screeching noise every half hour. GET UP FOOL. It was a fun time at 4am that day...
That is hysterically funny!! We, too, have a fence jumper who, by sheer luck is also scared of her own shadow. I strung bells on the top of the fence and she's scared to death of them...hence no more fence jumping and scaring the neighbors.
Aw. Poor girl. Although it is kind of funny...okay...really funny that it's having that effect on her.
You make me want to get a German Sheppard, now.
aww baby girl.. although I am sorry I would laugh myself till I peed at her being scared too. Now quit tormenting her and fix it momma..
Oh NO! Poor Deja!! xoxo Please change those things when the time changes. :)
Hahaha. This made me smile. Glad I found your blog.
Awe poor girl. Glad you are there to protect her
Hahaha! Poor Deja! I'd say that you have a permanent lap ornament unless you fix the smoke detector.
So cute! My sister has one of those huge wolf-like dogs who loves to crawl in my lap.
Aww, poor doggie! :) I hate when mine chirps at me...I can never pin point which one is chirping.
Awwwwwe, poor little pup! So cute, though!
