Last week was the girls spring break, Babe took the week off and we did a little vacationing, just the four of us. I won't bore you with all of the details, not in one post at least, but I did want to share with you their {Babe, Honey & Peanuts} achievement because once again I am one proud Mommy and wife!
Babe and Honey signed up to do the Spartan Race, a 4 mile military style obstacle race outside of Atlanta. Peanut was not old enough to do the race with them but she did kick some 10-13 year old butt in the kids race!
I sat back and watched and of course took lots of pictures and cheered them on.
The day started with them looking like this
And ended with them looking like this
Peanut took off in the back of the pack, I'd say there were probable a little over 100 kids running in her age group, and finished 25th, only 4 girls crossed the finish line before her. I was super proud of her but for any of you that have read my stories about Peanut and her extreme drive and competitiveness you can only imagine how placing 25th went over. She's already training for the next race where I have no doubt she'll place in the top 10!
She made up a ton of ground during the obstacles, I think she passed a half dozen kids while crawling in the 10" thick mud under the "barbed-wire".
There was a bathing station set up for the runners to clean up when they completed the race. The water was ice cold but not rinsing off really wasn't an option.
For some reason I have more pictures of this guy than I do of anyone else.
Oops, almost a wardrobe malfunction!
I'm fairly sure I heard him talking to ahem...himself. This is what he said... "Hey, Little Fella, I know the water's cold but I don't think everyone has admired me yet, hang in there for just a few more minutes."
I seriously think he emptied the well!
Enough already, back to my family...
The 40' mud crawl under barbed-wire was at the half way point, about an hour and both Babe and Honey said it was the hardest obstacle of the event.
I'll be honest when I saw my hubbies face I was a fearful that he was gonna have a heart attack, admitting defeat is not his strong suit!
At about the half way point Honey, along with the majority of the other racers, opted to roll instead of crawl. Her elbows were raw and bloody when she crossed the finish line!
By the end of the day this rope climb was covered in mud. I'd say a quarter of the people made it up the rest lined up to do the option. They meant business, if you couldn't or wouldn't do a certain obstacle you had to do 30 burpies before moving on to the next thing.
They crossed the finish line with a respectable time of 2 hours 27 minutes, covered in mud, exhausted and ready to sign up for the next race!
I couldn't be more proud of them. They came, they saw, they kicked ass!
What are you talking about today? Anything goes guys make sure to come back and link up so we can swing by and say hi!

Those pics are great! I'm not sure I'd want to roll around in mud. I guess this makes me girly. Whatev. I love that they finished together.
I'm sure Peanut will place in the top 10 next time. When's the next race?
Holy closeness on the wardrobe malfunction! Hottie McHottie in da house!!
They were awesome! No wonder you are such a proud mama.
Sounds like a fantastic spring break! We have a Spartan race here too! Not that I would ever in a million years enter...but you know - I have friends whose glory I can bask in!
That looks like fun! Glad you told us there were showers because all my OCD brain could think when you shared the after picture was did you let them get in the car that way?
I can't wait for spring break..only 2 and a half more weeks!
That is very impressive! I'm not sure I'd be willing to do something like that for 2 hours 27 minutes and get covered in mud.
Peanut will kick major butt next race, I bet!
And now I'll be smiling all day with pictures of McHotty floating in my head... ;)
Groundhog Hypothesis, Menopausal Mother Nature, Truancy and the Phone Princess

That looks so fun! Match wants to do a race like that, and I'd be like you : cheering him on and taking pictures of random hotties. ;-)
I remember when you talked about this race last year. They look like they were proud of themselves. Not exactly happy, but proud.
That looks like a lot of messy fun. This is something I could've gotten into years ago, but now, I don't know. lol You really caught the moments, though. This is going to be great to look back on years from now. Thanks for hosting!
Awesome!!! How cool that they did that together!
And hose guy...HAHA! Hose guy. Hose and "hose" hehe. Okay, Whatever, I'm done.
Wow, no wonder you are proud of them, they did AMAZING!!!
Didn't look like the easiest thing to do...and so much mud. Good thing there was a place to shower :)
NICE!
I'm not gonna lie, that kind of sounds like fun, but why didn't you sign up mom ;)
They have some serious butt kicking skills!
The guy in the shower........Thank You ;)
Awesome. I scrolled through the photos before reading the post (cause I'm crazy like that) and thought, wow, that's what James Bond looks like when he comes home from the field (military speak for training). I laughed when I read it was a military style race. Good for them!
That is super awesome! I would really love to do tough mudder or something like it this year. Too cool.
And a big second to the thanks for the guy in the shower. man alive.
That mud is sick! But it looks like a lot of fun for a competitive person. I am seriously dying at all those pictures you took of that guy! I would be so embarrassed to get caught I wouldn't be able to do it!! LOL So hilarious...he's super HOT!
did you post pictures of your family? I only saw some hot thang and got lost.
I'd like to get enough energy to run a marathon or throw myself in mud but am just too out of shape currently. There's always next time.
Damn! Your family has some serious drive! Way to go!
I love that you just blatantly took a bunch of shots of some hot abs, I mean random guy, washing his junk!
more photos of the Channing Tatum wannabe... please. Thank you.
My boyfriend, sister and BIL have signed up to do one next month. I'm glad you posted about this so I can see what I'm in for!! :-)
