Talk To Us Tuesday ~ Florida wildlife

I cannot believe it's Tuesday already. I really do have a lot to talk about, I have no clue why I wait until Tuesday to blog. Maybe because it's the coolest day to blog since IA and I host this super awesome link party with no rules! Anysquirrel, I need to make a list so I don't forget all of the crazy/funny things that happy during my "normal" week.

This week I witnessed "softball Moms" at their fines, ate and drank way too much, peed my pants just feet from a bathroom, crashed a group dating party with my hubby and kids, and found a snake in my house. It's been a busy and exciting few days!

Today for my rule-free TTUT post I've chosen to talk about the snake in my house...

If y'all are anything like me you put off projects until the very last minute. I've put off cleaning out what used to be my office closet and buying a mattress for the now guest bedroom until I actually had a guest coming. My beautiful niece, who took me posting a horrible picture of her from the 7th grade on FB like a champ, called Thursday to say she would be here Monday afternoon for 3 days. No time like the present to tackle that black hole of a closet and go mattress dancing shopping!

Around 1am Monday morning I was down to the nitty-gritty in the closet; I reached for a picture that had fallen in-between the wall and dresser and pulled out this beauty....
That would be Babe and I circa 1991. There's no need to tell me how uber hot we were cuz I already know!

So I grabbed a piece of tape to tape the picture to the inside of the closet and my fingers rubbed against something that didn't feel quite right. I flipped the picture over to find a snake stuck to a piece of double sided tape. I screamed, threw the picture to the ground, and went to change my pants. I have lived in Florida for almost 20 years and have come accustomed to a lot of creatures but snakes in my house is not one of them! Be it dead or alive a snake has no place in my house!

I do actually feel slightly bad for this baby black-racer. Poor thing died a slow and horrible death while trying to free himself from the tape. I'm just glad he didn't call for his Mamma to rescue him!

Babe is gone for a few days...Is it wrong that I have placed the picture in his office, snake still in tact, in hopes that he too will pick it up to laugh reminisce about "the way we were" and find the dead snake?

It also may be wrong that my niece walked on water to get out of the pool when a live snake came at her last night. I may or may not have forgotten to warn her to check the skimmer baskets before she jumdep in. Oops!

What are you talking about today? I promise I will do my very best to make it to all of you, I visited half of you last week, as soon as I get home from the beach... You gotta love summer vacation!

I think I would have rather heard the group dating story as it is close to bedtime and I KNOW I will be dreaming about snakes on double-sided tape now!!!!!

WOW, Florida is wild! I'd have freaked out if I came across a snake in my house too. We just have scary ass spiders here, but at least there's a spray for that. I don't think they make snake spray...

Bahahaha, holy Mom jeans and poodle hair! I love that you two have been together so long though. It makes my heart happy that you have these cheesy pictures. I hope Match and I have pictures like that someday.

First of all I have to say that I LOVE that photo! What a great memory (of the hair and fashion styles back then). Too cute.
Snakes in the house...eeek! I'm guessing I would be grateful for the double sided tape too, who knows where it could have ended up otherwise. There was me thinking Florida was all about aligators.

This is why I can't come to Florida, you have gators AND snakes, it is just too much. I would end up embarassing myself for sure!

I'm not "afraid" of snakes, per se, but I remember when we first moved to Orlando and were unpacking, there was one of those black racers in the hallway to my room and I, uh, may have freaked out a bit. I was thinking, if this is what Central Florida is like, screw this noise!

Snakes. Why did it have to be snakes?

Love the picture of you and Babe!
Snakes...can't handle them.

That photo is HAWT! ;) And definitely the perfect representation of the 90's! Love it!

OK, now you've given me the heebie jeebies for the day. I would have FREAKED OUT if I had accidentally touched a snake from the deep recesses of a closet, dead or alive. And I LOVE that you left the picture for your hubby to find with the snake still attached. That's something I would totally do.

And now I'm wanting to read all about the crashed party, eating and drinking too much, peeing your pants feet from a bathroom and the softball moms. Get busy! ;)

Awww! Poor widdle snake! I hope your husband wasn't scared too much. My husband would faint dead away if he saw a snake. Or a needle.

Oh my word.

Is it the poisonous kind? Why are there snakes in the pool?

Now see, you ahve all the fun. When I worked at an outdoor poll way back when, all we ever found were frogs. Oh and enormous dead bugs. There might have been a snake once, but it happened on my day off and I didn't have to deal with it.
There have never been snakes in my house. Spiders (shudder), and flying stinging insects (double shudder) but no snakes. If a snake was found Turbo would try to turn it into a pet I'm sure. Mommy wouldn't deal with that one well.

I would have died on the spot!! then peed my pants. It's not that I'm afraid of snakes, It's the thought of it biting me that creeps me out. When I worked at the animal clinic, I had to hold one STILL while the Dr gave it injections. NOT EASY!!and way creepy!! It ranks up there with havin' my hand in a goat VaJayJay!

Oh. My. God. I would have crapped my pants, no word of a lie. I don't care if it's dead...Gaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!

I hate snakes too. I think I'd have freaked out worse! I actually found a live one making its way across my hardwood floors one night. Only b/c the dogs found it first. It was a ring neck. Hubby was in class so I grabbed the dust pan with the really long handle, brushed it in, threw it out the door and closed and locked the door so it couldn't get back in. I've also stuck my hand on a frog in my house and stepped on one barefooted. ugh!

I'll take our mice over snakes anyday! No thank you, Ma'am - you keep those snakes. Of course, we have snakes here, but thankfully not too many around the house or at least none I've seen in many years.

I had zero fear of snakes when I went to visit you in October so next time I'm there, I'll be checking where I walk. This story is beyond disturbing. I would also like to hear about the other possible blog topics that you listed when you get a chance. Kthanks.

Oh my gosh!! I think my eyes popped out of my head seeing that! Oh I would so scream and pee my pants over that.

I would have to change my pants, too, after discovering that. You're camera's seriously good because it looked much larger in the first pictures. It took me a second to realize it was on the backside of the totally AWESOME picture.

I'd leave the picture for my husband, too, snake in tact and all. so I'm not a good judge as to if that's a good or bad thing. ;)

That is some story! Ugh... Not sure I'd leave the snake for fear of bigger critters coming for a 'snack' but then again I wouldn't want to go near it either... Good luck you brave soul! Thanks for hosting and have a great week.

Omg...I freaking hate snakes! It is my biggest fear. I loved living in Hawaii and never having to worry about them, until some crazies started sneaking them in! My mom had one get in her house a couple years ago and it still makes me anxious when I am there.
