Talk To Us Tuesday ~ Reviewing March

Now that Monday is in the rear view mirror I have my sights set on Tuesday, the best blogging day of the week my friends! Why? Because my ever so funny Captain drinking friend IA and I co-host Talk To Us Tuesday that's why. TTUT is our rule free weekly meme where you get to talk to us about whatever 's on your mind. 


Today is also the day I link up with Emmy for her monthly Ten Things to Smile About meme. It only happens once a month but it's yet another reason why I love Tuesdays! I've posted several pictures from March already and I'd hate to bore you with more of the same so this month I'm making my list semi-short, sweet and to the point.


Here 10 the things that made me smile in March...


1. Bringing out my Spring decor.

2. Celebrating a birthday with a very special 4 year old.

3. Knowing that there's only 12 weeks {just 12 more Tuesdays} of school left. I cannot wait to turn the alarm clock off for 9 weeks!


4. Learning that I'm not an alcoholic. I was convicted to give something up for 3 weeks during our church fast and I chose alcohol. I have made it 12 days and I have not broken out in cold sweats or had intense bouts of vomiting. I have however had an increase in peanut butter and honey consumption. I'm not sure a healthy liver is a good trade for a fat ass! I'm not gonna lie, I'm having a Patron margarita, on the rocks, no slat with a shot of olive juice in 9 days.

5. Being able to do cool things with Honey outside of softball like the sidewalk chalk art festival. 

6. Going to see the midnight premiere of The Hunger Games with my girls and Babe!

7. Watching my husband coach Peanuts softball team temper free. I think he has finally grasped the fact that he is working with 11 & 12 year old, hormonal girls!

8. Watching the countdown on my side bar tick away the days, hours and minutes until I get to hang with my bloggy besties in California!

9. Dancing With The Stars. I don't watch much TV but I love DWTS, I smile from start to finish every week. I'm also a Packer fan so watching Donald Driver get his groove on is a bonus!

10. Getting gifts in the mail from sweet blog friends for absolutely no reason! Well, I did ask for this but she won't let me pay for it, Janette I love ya too girl! Seriously!

Spring has forgotten Florida

Living in Florida we tend to miss out on the four seasons. We have fall like weather January-Febraury, summer weather March-October and spring like weather November & December. A little messed up, no?


When it comes to enjoying the different seasons I am forced to do it via decorations. For instance spring has supposedly sprung for most of my FB and Twitter friends but I have gone from wearing a sweater with the heat on to getting a sunburn and having to stay inside with the AC. I'm not complaining though I wouldn't know what to do with cold temperatures for more than a few weeks, I am a Florida girl through and through. 


So when Jessica from Mommys Sippy Cup and her partner Kelly from Just the Two of Us asked, what is your favorite thing about spring? {Favorite color? Favorite flower? Favorite place to enjoy? Favorite thing to do outdoors?}. I had to put a Florida spin on it.


My favorite thing about spring is knowing that school is almost over. It's last quarter of school which means the countdown to turning the alarm clock off for 9 weeks is on! 


My favorite color is colors are, bright, cheery spring colors. Yellow, cantaloupe, mint, light blue, lime. Have you seen the new delicious colors out there? I've gone a little crazy buying myself new tops, but after a few trips to the beach I have a little color and they just look too good to pass up! 


My favorite flower is a gerber daisy but with spring comes tulips and since they were my Nannies favorite I love to set those on the island in the kitchen, I just wish they lived a little longer.


My favorite place to enjoy is most defiantly the beach. If I'm lucky enough to have a day with nothing to do I get the girls off to school and sneak away to the best for the day. Just me, a cooler full of water, and a good book!


My favorite thing to do outdoors is go to the beach of course. I know it sounds boring but to me there's no place better than a place where I can have my toes in the water and my ass in the sand! If I'm not at the beach I'm at the softball fiends, I live such a sexy life I tell ya! 


This is just one way I bring swing to life. I decorate the tale at the entrance, the table in the family room and the kitchen for each season. The ceramic bunnies and cool blue vases were this year addition, I love setting out seasonal things!

Friday Daydreamin'~ Spring Break

 Linking up again this week with Becca from R We There Yet Mom? This week she wants to see our favorite Spring Break picture. I so hear Anjelah Johnson in my head saying "Elegant Nail...Just one"...Never heard of her? You MUST Google her, she is the funniest chick I've never met! 


Anyway, my favorite spring break picture...one that I haven't already shared...CRAP...would have to be....this one.

My sweet hubby took us to the famous Vinny Van Go-Go's in Savannah for pizza only for us to find out they only serve beer and wine. Two things wrong with that, I hate beer and I only drink wine on special occasions, eating pizza outside while fighting off biting gnats was not a special occasion. So being the smart man that he is he walked to the nearest bar and brought me back 2 Captain and Diet's. Now that's love and worthy of being my favorite picture right? 

 But then there's this one...

I look like a photo bomber in my own picture. But If I don't take the picture myself or ask someone else to it looks as if I was not there. I'm thinking someones whose name rhymes with Honey could have moved over so I could have fit a little better...

As I continued searching for my favorite picture I found this little gem on my phone. Peanut is shall we say less than affectionate so when she leaned in to kiss her sister on the check Honey thought something bad was about to happen. Do you see her hand? She was so ready to tweak a nipple hug her baby sister!  

Really just one?

I can't do it! 

While in one of the 500 candy stores in Savannah Honey comes up to me says, "hey Mom, I mustache you a question". I think I might have shed a tear down my leg from laughing so hard!

Peanut was so full of herself during the haunted hearse tour. There are more pictures of her than anything or anyone else and she was the nights photographer! This was her Gangsta pose, no ghost was coming near her bad ass and that's for shizzle! 

OK, this is it I promise! 

These two kill me, they are either so on and full of fun or two of the biggest B's I know! This happened to be a day minute they were on.

What makes me happy?

I'm still searching for my happy. It's there, I know it is because it comes and gos, I just want it to come and stay. I have an incredible family and although they make me insane and irritate the bajesus out of me {more than I care to admit} I love them more than life itself! 


We had a great spring break vacation, just the four of us, I don't think we've vacationed alone in a few years, it was nice! Here are a few pictures of our week together.

I usually don't post pictures of myself looking so rough but I just love it so much I had to! After being out of Florida for almost a week we were all jonesing for some beach time. I asked Peanut to take a picture with me, obviously I couldn't see her since I was taking the picture, I was thrilled when I saw it. I love that she loves me so much! 

 The last day of spring break Honey I took Deja and my Mom to the sidewalk chalk walk. I tell you the things these artist can do with a bucket of chalk is unbelievable. Spending time with my almost adult daughter is such a joy!

Our last night in Hilton Head we took a short walk on the beach, short because it was a little too cold for us Floridians. 

My hubby makes me happy. After almost 20 years of marriage he is still my best friend. Our marriage is not always perfect but it's perfect for me!

You've got to love the humor of a 12 year old. I'm now sporting a semi-permanent smiley face on my tummy. I need some "cover-up" on it asap, good thing I live close to the beach, nothing beats natural make-up! 

Lake Living

Ah, lake living. I love it up here but it can really get expensive having a carefree place at the lake! The boat alone costs us thousands of dollars a year – between gas and having to winterize it and store it and clean it and all that it’s hardly worth it to own one. I think if I had to do it all over again I would probably just rent one out every weekend instead of buying! The house itself isn’t that expensive but by the time you deck it out like you want with wild blue internet deals and TVs and all the lake décor it really does add up – I guess having a second home was never supposed to be cheap, though! We’ve been talking about whether or not it’s a good idea to rent the place out in the summers the weeks we’re not there but I’m not sure how I feel about someone else using our property. It feels like our home and I’m sad to see it opened up!

TTUT ~ We are Spartan

It's good to be back, I've missed all of my TTUT friends! I hope you're here to link up with IA, my partner in crime and me, for another great week of our rule-free meme! 


Last week was the girls spring break, Babe took the week off and we did a little vacationing, just the four of us. I won't bore you with all of the details, not in one post at least, but I did want to share with you their {Babe, Honey & Peanuts} achievement because once again I am one proud Mommy and wife! 


Babe and Honey signed up to do the Spartan Race, a 4 mile military style obstacle race outside of Atlanta. Peanut was not old enough to do the race with them but she did kick some 10-13 year old butt in the kids race! 


I sat back and watched and of course took lots of pictures and cheered them on. 

The day started with them looking like this

Peanut took off in the back of the pack, I'd say there were probable a little over 100 kids running in her age group, and finished 25th, only 4 girls crossed the finish line before her. I was super proud of her but for any of you that have read my stories about Peanut and her extreme drive and competitiveness you can only imagine how placing 25th went over. She's already training for the next race where I have no doubt she'll place in the top 10! 

She made up a ton of ground during the obstacles, I think she passed a half dozen kids while crawling in the 10" thick mud under the "barbed-wire".

There was a bathing station set up for the runners to clean up when they completed the race. The water was ice cold but not rinsing off really wasn't an option. 

For some reason I have more pictures of this guy than I do of anyone else.

Oops, almost a wardrobe malfunction! 

 I'm fairly sure I heard him talking to ahem...himself. This is what he said... "Hey, Little Fella, I know the water's cold but I don't think everyone has admired me yet, hang in there for just a few more minutes."

I seriously think he emptied the well! 

Enough already, back to my family...

The 40' mud crawl under barbed-wire was at the half way point, about an hour and both Babe and Honey said it was the hardest obstacle of the event.

I'll be honest when I saw my hubbies face I was a fearful that he was gonna have a heart attack, admitting defeat is not his strong suit!  

At about the half way point Honey, along with the majority of the other racers, opted to roll instead of crawl. Her elbows were raw and bloody when she crossed the finish line! 

By the end of the day this rope climb was covered in mud. I'd say a quarter of the people made it up the rest lined up to do the option. They meant business, if you couldn't or wouldn't do a certain obstacle you had to do 30 burpies before moving on to the next thing. 

 They crossed the finish line with a respectable time of 2 hours 27 minutes, covered in mud, exhausted and ready to sign up for the next race! 

I couldn't be more proud of them. They came, they saw, they kicked ass!

TTUT ~ Ice Ice Baby

It's TTUT! I love Tuesdays! I love my co-host IA. I love all of our loyal friends who link up week after week. I love the new faces that are joining in on our no rules weekly meme! Yep, I just plain ol' love TTUT!


This is a scheduled post since I'm still on vacation. I'm sure I'm having a fabulous time with my family, hopefully everyone is playing nice and all four of us will return in one piece. Since I am on vacation please forgive me if I don't get back to you or come by and visit, I'm spending the week unplugged and with my crew! Thanks for understanding.


It's been a while since Rogue's made an appearance, I'm sure y'all miss him terribly, I know I do! I hope my in-laws are taking superior care of him and his sisters in our absence. This is the first time they've watched them, my parents usually stay with their Grand-dogs but they have a new 4-legged baby and Rogue doesn't play well with other so.....

Mimi & Grampee, if you're reading this hold Rogue by the face and kiss in square on the mouth for me please cuz I'm sure he's missin' his Mamma! 

I've talked before about Rogues obsession with ice, he comes running as soon as he hears the freezer door open. There was a huge chunk of ice in the tray the other day, I saw him eyeing it up like a crack addict eyes the needle, so being the good Mamma that I am I let him have it.  He had swag as he walked off with that block of ice, so much swag that I thought I heard him say...
